Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has awarded certificates to prison officers who completed the “The United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the treatment of Prisoners (The Nelson Mandela Rules) programme conducted in collaboration with UNODC.
The ceremony held at Maafushi Prison last night was honoured by Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Uz. Ibrahim Mohamed Didi and attended by Assistant Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Asif, Director of Maafushi Prison Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Ahmed Jaadhullah, senior management of Maafushi Prison and Commissioned Officers.
Certificates to the 70 officers who completed the programme was handed over by the Deputy Commissioner.
The purposes of the training programme are to induct prison officers on the ” The United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners (The Nelson Mandela Rules)” and to develop and streamline their work.
