A remanded person at Maafushi Prison pending trial, Mohamed Nasheed (43 years), Hudhufinifenmaage, M. Muli has passed away today.
Mohamed Nasheed was taken to Maafushi Prison Medical Centre and given CPR after another remanded person from the same cell had alerted prison officers that he was not breathing. The doctor has declared his death around 17:26 pm today when he did not breath despite being given CPR.
Mohamed Nasheed was remanded pending trail in relation to prohibited substance/drugs case.
Shortly after Mohamed Nasheed’s death, MCS informed the news to his family, the Inspector of Correctional Service, Maldives Police Service, Human Rights Commission of the Maldives and National Integrity Commission.
