Maldives Correctional Service has today held the certificate awarding ceremony for four courses conducted by Institute for Correctional Studies and completed by inmates. The ceremony was held at Maafushi Prison.
The chief guest of the ceremony was the Member of Parliament for the Kudahuvadhoo Constituency Honourable Ahmed Amir while the special guest fir the ceremony was Malaysia’s Commissioner General of Prisons Dato’ Sri Hj. Zulkifli bin Omar.
The certificates were awarded to inmates who successfully completed the Certificate in Sewing course conducted by Institute for Correctional Studies, Certificate 1 in Wood Carving course conducted in association with Academy for Training and Research, Certificate 1 in Qirat and Certificate 2 in Qirat in association with Institute for Quran and Sunnah. Certificate 1 in Qirat was conducted in batches 2,3 and four while Certificate 2 in Qirat was conducted in two batches.
The certificates were awarded by Member of Parliament for the Kudahuvadhoo Constituency Honourable Ahmed Amir, Malaysia’s Commissioner General of Prisons Dato’ Sri Hj. Zulkifli bin Omar, Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Shihan, Member of Parliament for the Dhidhdhoo Constituency Honourable Abdul Latheef Mohamed and Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal. A total of 89 inmates had earned the certificates after successfully completing the courses.
Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Shihan also awarded a plaque to Malaysia’s Commissioner General of Prisons Dato’ Sri Hj. Zulkifli bin Omar. Furthermore, the Commissioner General of Prisons also launched the Rehabilitative Framework of Maldives Correctional Service.
Additionally, the ceremony was attended by commissioned officers and several prison officers.
