Malaysia’s Commissioner General of Prisons Dato’ Sri Hj. Zulkifli bin Omar has today met the Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Shihan at the Head Office of Maldives Correctional Service.
The main areas of discussion at the meeting were the operation of prison systems of the two countries and the challenges faced in running it. Moreover, the participants also discussed about both countries giving cooperation to achieve goals. Since 2008, the Malaysia Prison Academy has provided numerous training opportunities for prison officers of Maldives Correctional Service.
The meeting was also joined by Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal.
Malaysia Prison Department maintains a close relationship towards Maldives Correctional Service and has assisted in providing several training opportunities for prison officers under the “Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP)”.
