Malaysia’s Commissioner General of Prisons arrives in Maldives

Malaysia’s Commissioner General of Prisons Dato’ Sri Hj. Zulkifli Bin Omar has arrived in Maldives last night on a two-day visit. The Commissioner General arrived in Maldives after concluding an official trip to Sri Lanka.

During his trip, Malaysia’s Commissioner General is scheduled to meet his Maldivian counterpart, Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Shihan and the Minister of Home Affairs Honourable Umar Naseer. In addition, he is also scheduled to visit the Maafushi Prison and check the operation of the Prison.

Malaysia Prison Department maintains a close relationship towards Maldives Correctional Service and has provided numerous training opportunities for prison officers under the “Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP)”.

Dato’ Sri Hj. Zulkifli Bin Omar joined the public service of Malaysia in 1986 after obtaining a degree in economics. He has completed numerous international training programmes and has over 29 years of valuable experience. In addition, he has managed the Malaysian team at competitions such as ASEAN games.
