An inmate from Hulhumale’ Prison, Ali Mohamed (58 years) Happy Rest, AA Himandhoo has passed away today.
Ali Mohamed had difficulty in breathing while at his Unit and received treatment from the Prison’s Medical Centre. He was taken to Hulhumale’ Hospital on emergency when his condition started deteriorating and passed away at around 15:20 hrs while receiving treatment from the hospital.
Ali Mohamed was serving a 10-year sentence for having engaged in a sexual act with a minor.
The family of Ali Mohamed, Inspector of Correctional Service, Human Rights Commission of the Maldives, Maldives Police Service and National Integrity Commission were shortly informed after he was taken to Hospital.
