An inmate serving a three-year sentence at Hulhumale’ Prison, Mohamed Aslam (40 years), Janavareege / GDH. Vaadhoo; has passed away tonight.
He was sitting in the yard when he suddenly fell down around 6pm and was taken to Hulhumale’ Hospital on emergency. After treating him, the Hospital informed of his death around 8:23pm tonight.
Mohamed Aslam was serving a sentence related to drugs. At the time of his death, he was not being treated for any serious medical condition.
The Inspector of Correctional Service, Human Rights Commission of the Maldives and Maldives Police Service were shortly informed after he was taken to Hospital.
The funeral procedures are underway with the cooperation of family.
