Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has yesterday started a religious programme named “Fanaaru – towards a peaceful destination through the light of knowledge” in collaboration with Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
The programme, being carried out at Maafushi Prison; is joined by 45 female inmates. The duration of the programme is six months.
The purpose of the programme is to teach inmates the pillars and essentials of the Islam and Islamic culture to reform them into individuals that are useful to the society after their release.
