The female inmates and remanded persons at Maafushi Prison of Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has today celebrated the International Women’s Day.
The celebration included a number of activities carried out at the Female Unit of the Prison; such as cutting of a cake special to the occasion, a relay race and a few sports activities finishing off with a canvas painting of the Day’s theme.
The activities were conducted separately for inmates and remanded persons as per the HPA guidelines. Female remanded persons had participated only in the cake cutting.
A total of 46 female inmates and nine remanded persons had participated in the activities. The event was carried out by the Female Unit.
