The sixth batch of “Certificate 1 in Computer Application” starts with 20 inmates

Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has today commenced Certificate 1 in Computer Application at Maafushi Prison to rehabilitate inmates by providing educational and vocational training.

The sixth batch of the five-week course consists of 20 participants.

The purpose of the course is to teach basic computer skills and parts of a computer system as part of the efforts to educate and develop skills among those incarcerated, which would be useful to earn a living once released from prison.

The course modules include Windows 7, Basic file management, Introduction to keyboarding, Introduction to networking, Introduction to hardware and software as well as English and Mathematics.

Though the Framework phases are organised and conducted by Maafushi Prison, the MQA-accredited courses taught under the Framework are conducted by facilitators from Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST).
