The Whistleblower Protection Committee of MCS holds sessions on whistleblowing

The Whistleblower Protection Committee and Legal Section of Maldives Correctional Service are holding sessions to create awareness on whistleblowing.

The Whistleblower Protection Committee was established under the Whistleblower Protection Act.

The purpose of the sessions is to create awareness of the responsibilities placed on officers and civil staff under this Law. In that regard, sessions for officers and civil staff of the Head Office and Hulhumale’ Prison have been conducted while four online sessions have been conducted for Maafushi Prison. More than 150 officers and civil staff have attended these sessions. Sessions will also be held for Asseyri Prison and Male’ prison employees in near future.

he sessions included providing information on the types of complaints lodged to the Whistleblower Protection Committee and how a case will proceed once a complaint has been lodged and stressed the importance of withholding the identity, personal and other information of the complainant in order to protect him or her. Also, how a complaint can be lodged to the Committee was also explained to the participants.
