Commissioner of Prisons Abdulla Munaz has today met with a team from Maldives Polytechnic regarding vocational training courses for inmates.
The meeting was held at the Head Office of Maldives Correctional Service (MCS).
The main discussion points for the meeting included the challenges for prisons and Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) to carryout educational and vocational courses for inmates and acquiring the assistance from Maldives Polytechnic for further strengthening the courses. In addition, the possibility of broadening the areas of academic and vocational courses for inmates which would help them earn an honest living upon their release from prison was also discussed.
The meeting was also joined by Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Uz Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, Director of ICOST Superintendent of Prisons Moosa Anwar and Director of Maafushi Prison Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Ahmed Riza while the Team from Maldives Polytechnic included Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Nasir, Director Majida Majeed, Lecturer Abdul Razzaq Adam and Administrative Officer Aminath Nazaahath.
