A team from European Union have visited Maafushi Prison yesterday.
According to the Acting Director of Prisons Superintendent of Prisons Salman Rasheed, the delegates visited the Prison to collect information regarding the operation and rehabilitation programmes. He also said that the delegates were shown a presentation on Maafushi Prison and any queries they had were clarified by representatives of Maldives Correctional Service.
The delegates then visited the work areas such as agricultural farming units, vocational work area, classrooms, library, computer lab and the special protection area and gathered information.
The delegates consisted of 10 individuals while Maldives Correctional Service was represented by Acting Director of Prisons Superintendent of Prisons Salman Rasheed, Assistant Superintendent Abdulla Ameen, Chief Prison Officer Aishath Riuza, First Class Prison Officer Ahmed Iruhan and First Class Prison Officer Ahmed Zinah.
