Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) of Maldives Correctional Service has today begun Certificate 3 in Custodial Supervision Course at Maafushi Prison to develop prison officers.
The 15-week Course is targeted for prison officers in ranks of First Class Prison Officers and Senior Prison Officers. A total of 31 officers have participated in the course.
The Course mainly aims to develop officers working in supervisory level to supervisors who take initiative as well as are fully capable of managing various sections of Maldives Correctional Service.
The modules include the ideal way of operating minimum, medium and maximum security units, how to maintain security system, how to effectively monitor subordinates as well as be a role-model to them, to make the subordinates accountable to their actions and to effectively communicate with officers and inmates.
Maldives Correctional Service informs there are several courses underway at Maafushi Prison to develop officers and rehabilitate inmates.
