Maldives Correctional Service has commenced classes for inmates as part of their efforts to educate and reform them into becoming citizens who are worthy to be accepted back into the community.
These classes are being held to prepare the inmates to take part in next year’s Secondary School Certificate and O‘Level exams. Hence a total of 80 inmates have signed up for Islam and Dhivehi classes, while those who want can also take part in English and Maths classes.
The classes are being held by Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) in collaboration with Institute for Quran and Sunnah and will be taught by facilitators from the latter.
