Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) of Maldives Correctional Service has today started the “Training for Prison Officers” programme in association with the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) at Maafushi Prison.
The two-day training programme will cover an introduction of human rights, the constitution of Maldives and regular policies, human rights of detainees, female inmates and children. In addition, the Anti-Torture Act, health rights and prisons regulation as well as the procedures of using force will also be highlighted and discussed at the session.
The training programme is to be conducted at all prisons and detention centres of Maldives Correctional Service and has already been held at the Asseyri Prison.
