Maldives Correctional Service has organised the annual football tournament for inmates at Asseyri Prison.
The Tournament, which commenced on Friday, was organised to assess the behavioural and mental health of the inmates at Asseyri Prison as part of MCS efforts to rehabilitate inmates for successful reintegration into society.
A total of six teams divided into two groups are competing in the Tournament and the two teams with the highest points from each group are to compete at the semi-finals. The two teams to win the semis will head on to the finals.
The final match of the Tournament is set for 19th March 2016.
The Tournament has been held every year since 2012 and this year’s Tournament was inaugurated by the Director of Asseyri Prisons, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Mohamed Hussain.
