Maldives Correctional Service prepares to plant a record number of trees at Hulhumale’ phase 2 area

Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) and Hulhumale’ Development Corporation (HDC) are preparing to break the record of planting the most number of trees at once at the Hulhumale’ phase two area.

The programme is an initiative of Maldives Correctional Service to plant greenery at the area reclaimed under Hulhumale’ phase two project to make it more scenic. The programme is to be carried out jointly with HDC and is the first time so many trees are being planted at Hulhumale’. MCS and HDC are planning to plant 13000 trees at the event.

The trees required for the programme were obtained from hard work of MCS officers who travelled to other atolls in search of suitable trees and have been already handed over to HDC.

MCS and HDC have planned to hold the event on 05th September 2015 and preparations are already underway for the event, such as digging of planting holes.

The programme is also open for gardening clubs, societies and persons with an interest in gardening.
