Institute for Correctional Service (ICOST) of Maldives Correctional Service has today commenced the “Certificate 3 in Custodial Management and Security Programme” at Maafushi Prison.
The chief guest of the inauguration ceremony was Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham.ICSOT informs that the Certificate level 3-Course is accredited by Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) and will be taught by experienced lecturers of ICOST.
The Executive Director of Institute for Correctional Service (ICOST) Chief Prisons Officer Ahmed Riza said that the Course duration is 17-weeks and will be divided into four semesters. The first semester includes physical activities while semester two involves theory classes. Semester three includes work place observation classes and the final semester is designed to get hands-on experience of all modules studied throughout the Course. Executive Director also said that the participants will be assessed for each individual module while getting experience during the final semester.
Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham said that the work is successful due to the hard work of the ICOST lecturers and officers and staff of Maldives Correctional Service. He also sincerely thanked the ICOST lecturers for their valuable contribution.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers of Head Office, Director of Maafushi Prison Assistant Superintendent Salman Rasheed and senior officers of other prisons.
