Mr Hassan Zareer, Hulhumale’ 1039 G06, is the 6th Commissioner of Prisons of Maldives Correctional Service appointed by the President of Maldives.
Commissioner Hassan Zareer holds bachelor’s and master’s degree in business and has completed Doctor of Philosophy (PHD) in Sustainable Economic Development and Political Science.
He had previously served as a Deputy Minister of Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure from 2014 till 2018. Prior to his appointment as the Commissioner of Prisons, he was a Management Consultant at Male’ City Council. He was the President of the Islamic Democratic Party from 2012 till 2017 and also worked in several private companies at managerial or directorial level. He also worked at Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) for 11 years at various posts and had worked at a joint-venture company of MIFCO as Superintendent for 7 years.
Commissioner Hassan Zareer was appointed as a member of the Privatization and Corporatization Board on 23rd November 2023.
As a strong supporter of human rights advocacy and social development, Commissioner Hassan Zareer has worked at several NGOs and is the current President of Hope Association.
