Maldives Correctional Service has tonight held a ceremony at Male’ Prison to unveiled its Action Plan and calendar for 2016.
The Action Plan and calendar was unveiled by Chief Guest of the ceremony, Minister of Home Affairs Honourable Umar Naseer. Speaking at the ceremony, Honourable Minister stated that the prison network has seen many positive changes and noted that since the appointment Mohamed Husham as the Commissioner of Prisons, Correctional Services has widened its services and progressed considerably.
Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham stated that it was a historic moment and the first time an action plan was developed in the history of Maldivian prisons. He also stated that in order to achieve this, Maldives Correctional Service had requested assistance from several institutions and thanked them for all their support.
He specifically noted UNDP’s role in compiling the Action Plan and thanked them especially for their support assistance.
The Commissioner further stated that the Action Plan would improve the services and help Maldives Correctional Service progress further.
