Maldives Correctional Service has today held discussions with National Drug Agency (NDA) to identify the requirements for the establishment of Drug Offender Remand Centre.
The discussion, held at the meeting room of Head Quarters of Maldives Correctional Service, was joined by the Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham and senior officials of Maldives Correctional Services and NDA.
The primary focus of the discussion was to identify what infra-structural changes should be brought prior to handing over the management of Drug Offender Remand Centre to Maldives Correctional Services and how to work jointly to achieve these changes.
According to Minister of Home Affairs Honourable Umar Naseer, the operation of Drug Offender Remand Centre is supposed to be one of the duties of Maldives Correctional Services. The Minister had made the statement while speaking at the ceremony held at Male’ Prison on 27th December 2015 to unveil the Strategic Plan of Maldives Correctional Services.
