Maldives Correctional Service holds flag hoisting ceremony at Asseyri Prison to celebrate anniversary

Maldives Correctional Service has held a flag hoisting ceremony this morning at Asseyri Prison to celebrate the Prison’s  seventh anniversary.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal said that initially when Asseyri Prison was formed, there were several difficulties in managing the Prison but the officers have made great sacrifices to improve the conditions and operation of Asseyri Prison. He also said that directors of Asseyri Prison over the years have performed their duties without hesitation despite the many challenges they faced. In that regard, DCP thanked Superintendent of Prisons Moosa Anwar, Superintendent of Prisons Mohamed Shaheen Ali and Chief Prisons Officer Abdul Qadir for their services.

DCP also spoke in detail about the history of Asseyri’ Prison and thanked all the officers of Asseyri Prison on behalf of the Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham and himself.

The present Director of Asseyri Prison Deputy Superintendent of Prisons Mohamed Hussain, Director of Male’ Prison Superintendent of Prisons Moosa Anwar , Director of Hulhumale’ Detention Centre Chief Prisons Officer Ismail Naseer, several officers from Asseyri Prison, senior officials from other prisons and Head Office also participated in the ceremony.

Under the guidance of Chief Prisons Officer Ibrahim Afeef, the officers of Male’ Prison also took a solemn oath in honour of the occasion.

The ceremony was concluded with the cutting of the special cake by Deputy Commissioner and all other officers present at the ceremony.
