Maldives Correctional Service has today introduced a new uniform for the inmates who sign up for work while serving out their prison sentences.
Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Abdulla Ameen said that the new uniform was designed specifically for safety and convenience of inmates while they work. He also said that the new uniform will make it easier for officers to monitor the inmates while they work.
The new uniform which was implemented today is in the colour of orange, in line with prison uniforms in most countries.
A different uniform for the inmates who stay indoors are also to be introduced in future.
