An inmate from Maafushi Prison has passed away this morning while receiving treatment at IGM Hospital.
The inmate who passed away was 51-year-old Abdulla Rasheed of G. Keema, who had been in Maafushi Prison serving a five-year sentence for assault since July 2016.
He had been brought to Male’ for experiencing diarrhea and vomiting, as well as low blood pressure with suspected internal bleeding following excretion of black substances due to the afore-mentioned conditions. IGMH had kept him in Observation and started providing emergency medical treatment when his condition had worsened this morning. He had passed away around 10:20 am while receiving treatment at ER. The death certificate indicates the Cause of Death as “Internal Bleeding”.
