Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has last night won the “President’s Cup Recreational Futsal Tournament 2017” match played against Ministry of Economic Development with a score of 8-2.
The first goal of the match was scored by Economic Ministry, though MCS had scored an equaliser within a few minutes. MCS had scored four goals during the first half of the match. The match got more spirited during the second half and after a few deadly shots, Economic Ministry soon scored a goal. The penalty awarded to the Team was also blocked by MCS Goal keeper Ismail Shiham. MCS had scored an additional four goals during the second half, leaving the final score as 8-2.
Out of the 8 goals; Hussain Ali and Jailam Jameel scored three goals each while the remaining two goals were scored by Ahsan Ali and Mohamed Siraj.
There are 38 teams competing in the Men’s Division of the Tournament with seven teams competing in the Women’s Division. The Men’s Division is divided into eight groups and the leading two teams of each group will move on to the second round. Hence, 16 Teams would be competing in the second round. From the second round, the Men’s Division will proceed in the “knock-out” system.
MCS’s next match is scheduled for Thursday night against PSM at 21:15 hrs.
