Maldives Correctional Service has today commenced the first programme of Rehabilitation Framework: Phase 3 for inmates at Maafushi Prison.
The Programme will be conducted by lecturers from Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) and facilitators from Maafushi Prison.
The purpose of Phase 3 is to ensure that every inmate who completes the Phase possesses education level that is accepted by the government, teach them skills that can earn them an income as well as hold a MQA-level 3 certificate along with the skill set. Also, everyone that completes Phase 3 will have the opportunity to find allowance-based employment in their related field during Phase 4.
Maldives Correctional Service continues to rigorously work towards rehabilitating inmates by shaping programmes to discourage their return to prison, make them capable individuals and create a safe environment for them.
