Minister of Health Honourable Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has stated that no matter how highly a person is educated, specialised training is required if a person needs to do a specific work.
The Minister made the statement while speaking as the chief guest at the graduation ceremony of officers who successfully completed four courses conducted by Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) of Maldives Correctional Service. The ceremony was held at Maafushi Prison last night.
Minister Nazim sincerely thanked Minister of Home Affairs Honourable Azleen Ahmed, Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Shihan and Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal for establishing a training centre and executing training programmes among prison officers responsibly and professionally. He also stated that the centre is headed toward the right direction under their leadership and is a huge testament to the sustainability of the centre for the next generation and is also a very important national basic right.
“I would hope to see degree and masters level courses included your plan for ICOST, which would result in MCS employees becoming more responsible, skilled and professional,” said the minister.
