Emergency Support Group conducts security assessment of Male’ Prison

A team from the Emergency Support Group (ESG) of Maldives Correctional Service has conducted a security assessment of Male’ Prison from 16th to 22nd May 2016 as part of their activity calendar.

According to the Commanding Officer of ESG, Chief Prison Officer Abdul Ghanee, the Team reviewed the security of the Prison and identified any issues that needed to be corrected in the follow up report. Chief Prison Officer Abdul Ghanee said that immediate corrective measures would be taken if any such issues were identified. The Team also reviewed and revised ESG’s plan on responding to prison emergencies.

In addition, ESG also conducted a refresher training programme for prison officers who had previously undergone the “Primary Response Team Training” (PRTT) and executed many scenarios which included all officers.

CPO Abdul Ghanee further stated that every month ESG plans to visit a prison and monitor their security plans and take corrective measures if required.
