Officers of Maldives Correctional Service have today held a Himmafushi-cleaning event under the Fehivehi Programme. The event included the clean-up of some roads and areas of Himmafushi.
The event was initiated by Asseyri Prison and was participated by officers from Head Office, Male’ Prison, Hulhumale’ Detention Centre and inmates from Asseyri Prison.
By the time the event concluded at 2pm, an area 1464-feet-long and 55-feet-wide was successfully cleaned. The event was carried out in collaboration with the Himmafushi Council.
The Director of Asseyri Prison, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Mohamed Hussain said that the event was very successful and thanked all officers for their camaraderie and teamwork. He also thanked Himmafushi Council for their support and permitting Asseyri Prison to hold such programmes. In addition, he said that Asseyri Prison will always lead such programmes which benefit the community and there are many such events being planned for future.
