MCS commences awareness sessions on Sexual Harassment Act to mark the Women’s Day

Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has commenced awareness sessions on Act no 2014/16 the Sexual Harassment Act as part of the activities to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The sessions and special posters were inaugurated by Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu at a ceremony held at Maafushi Prison.

The purpose of the sessions is to create awareness among employees of the responsibilities tasked under to the Act. The sessions will provide information on the types of behaviour and actions defined as sexual harassment by the Law، how to file a sexual harassment case with the Committee and how the Committee will investigate the cases including the punishments that will be given by Law to people who commit such acts.

The Sexual Harassment Committee stated that MCS has zero tolerance for any behaviour or acts of sexual harassment and will be investigated as such.
