Asseyri Prison’s new office building and water-plant officially opens while Aasandha services extended to all prisons

Asseyri Prison’s new office building and water-plant has officially opened today and Aasandha services has been extended to all prisons.

The new office and water-plant was officially opened by Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham, who also announced the extension of Aasandha services to all prisons at a special ceremony held at the Prison this afternoon.

The new water-plant will be very convenient for prison officers and inmates who do various types of farming at the Prison and will solve the water-limitation issue often faced at the Prison during bad weather. Water was supplied to the Prison by a third-party on a contract basis.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner said that the office and water-plant project was completed with a considerably small government budget due to the fact that inmates were engaged to complete the project, as per the motto of the Commissioner – “to lighten the burden on government budget by teaching skills to inmates and utilising them to complete the projects”. The Commissioner noted that as the office building and water-plant was fully completed by Prison Officers and inmates.

He also thanked the Director of Asseyri Prison, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Mohamed Hussain, Deputy Director of Asseyri Prison Chief Prisons Officer Ahmed Jadulla and all the Prison Officers who were actively involved in the project.

In addition, the Prison Officers involved with the project were also awarded in appreciation of their hard work.

The ceremony was attended by Prison Officers and senior officials from Asseyri Prison, Maafushi Prison, Emergency Support Group, Male’ Prison, Hulhumale’ Detention Centre and Head Office.
