An inmate, 46-year-old Ismail Shabeen of M. Malas/ Male’; has passed away tonight, 06th October 2021 while receiving treatment at IGMH.
Ismail Shabeen was taken to IGMH last night around 19:00 hrs on emergency due to difficulty in breathing and later shifted to ICU when his health deteriorated.
The Hospital informed about his demise around 19:30 hrs. He had been receiving treatment for diabetes.
Ismail Shabeen was remanded pending court trial for drug abuse, drug handling and trafficking.
The Inspector of Correctional Service, Human Rights Commission of the Maldives and Maldives Police Service were subsequently informed of the Shabeen’s admittance at IGMH last night.
The funeral procedures are underway with the cooperation of family.
