Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) in collaboration with UNODC have commenced “Training on Basic Psychosocial Education” programme yesterday at Maafushi Prison to develop prison officers.
The training programme will be held from 17th to 24th July 2021 and a total of 24 officers are taking part in the programme.
The purpose of the programme is to build capable officers that can offer support to maintaining a healthy mindset of inmates, as well as to strengthen current rehabilitation programmes.
The programme includes modules such as mental health and first aid training, communication and counselling, motivational interviewing and stress management. The facilitators of the programme are from MIPSTER, Maldives Police Service and National Counter Terrorism Centre.
