MCS commences “Primary Response Team Training” for the sixth batch

Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has commenced “Primary Response Team Training” for the sixth batch at Maafushi Prison yesterday.

The training was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Uz Ibrahim Mohamed Didi.

A total of 46 officers from prisons and the Head Office will be participating in the 45-day training.

The main purpose of the training programme is to produce officers that are capable of responding to emergencies at prisons, and solve the issue within the boundaries of Law courageously and patiently. In addition, they will receive training on escorting high security inmates and how to maintain the peace and security of the prisons.

Those who complete the training will get the opportunity to work at the Emergency Support Group (ESG).

The training programme is conducted by Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) and includes modules such as Primary Response Team Formation, Restrain and Escort, Officer Safety Training, Search People and Properties, First Aid and Communication and Fire Fighting. In addition, the participants will also be taught the responsibilities given by the Law as well as use of force defined by Law.
