MCS holds certificate-awarding ceremony for inmates that completed Rehabilitation Framework phases 1 and 2

Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has today held a ceremony at Maafushi Prison to award certificates to inmates that completed Rehabilitation Framework Phases 1 and 2.

The ceremony was honoured by Chief Guest Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs Uz. Ahmadullah Jameel. In addition, Commissioner of Prisons Abdulla Munaz, Commissioned Officers, Mr Abdulla Saeed from Institute for Quran and Sunnah also attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, certificates were awarded to 72 inmates that completed Rehabilitation Framework Phases 1 and 2 as well as those that completed Qirat Course levels 1, 2, 3 and 4, Certificate 2 in Office Package, Certificate 1 in Computer Application and SSC and O’ Level by Deputy Minister Uz Ahmedullah Jameel, Commissioner of Prisons Abdulla Munaz, Superintendent of Prisons SP Ibrahim Nashid, Director of Male’ Prison DSP Mohamed Tholaal, Director and Deputy Director of Maafushi Prison ASP Ahmed Riza and ASP Abdulla Ameen.

Medals were also awarded to 16 inmates that achieved higher distinction in their respective courses.

The purpose of Rehabilitation Framework is to reform inmates, to educate and train them to become hardworking citizens accepted by the community after their release from Prison.
