New batches of Rehabilitation Framework’s Phase 1 and 2 has commenced yesterday at Maafushi Prison.
The Rehabilitation Framework is part of Maldives Correctional Service’s (MCS) efforts to rehabilitate offenders and provide them educational opportunities.
There are 50 participants in the new Phase 1 batch while the new Phase 2 batch consists of 40 participants.
The purpose of introducing the four-phased Rehabilitation Framework is to reform inmates by educating and teaching them useful skills which can help them earn a living upon their released from prison.
Though the Framework phases are organised and conducted by Maafushi Prison, the MQA-accredited courses taught under the Framework are conducted by facilitators from Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST).
