Foundation of the new unit and detention centre has been laid today at Hulhumale’ Prison of Maldives correctional Service.
The foundation was laid during a ceremony held this morning at the Prison by Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal and Commissioned Officers. The ceremony was joined by prison officers and civil staff of Hulhumale’ Prison and Head Office as well as few inmates.
The purpose of establishing the new unit and detention centre at Hulhumale’ Prison is to segregate those serving sentences and foreigners being detained for immigration purposes. The completion of the new building will provide convenience for both officers and inmates.
