MCS meets HRCM to discuss possible assistance to courses

Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has held discussions with Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) yesterday about the possibility of providing assistance to courses conducted by Institute of Correctional Studies (ICOST).  The meeting was held at HRCM’s office.

The main focus of the meeting was the possibility of HRCM providing various modules for diploma courses conducted by ICOST.

MCS was represented at the meeting by Deputy Superintendent of Prisons Ibrahim Nashid, Executive Director of ICOST Chief Prisons Officer Ahmed Riza and two facilitators from ICOST. The team from HRCM include Advocacy Director Aishath Fasoha, Senior Education Officer Aishath Shifana and Education Officer Khadeeja Limya.

Maldives Correctional Service has planned to conduct various courses for prison officers throughout 2016. In addition, MCS continues to conduct several rehabilitative programmes for inmates to prepare them for reintegration to the community following their release.
