Four officers depart to participate in Juvenile Rehabilitation Programme in Malaysia

Four prison officers from Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) have departed to participate in the Juvenile Rehabilitation Programme being held from 01st to 30th April 2016 in Malaysia.

The programme is awarded to MCS twice a year under the “Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP)” by the Malaysian government. The programme provides the opportunity for the participants to gain knowledge of prison systems and management as well as gain exposure to rehabilitation programmes among participating countries. The programme would also help the participating prison officers to gain knowledge on improving the existing prison system in their country.

The participants of the programme include Senior Prisons Officer Ali Zameel, First Class Prisons Officer Ibrahim Khaleel, Corporal Fathmath Zoona and Lance Corporal Mariyam Shabeena.

Following the completion of the programme, the participants will plan various training programmes, prepare modules and work to conduct training programmes targeted to areas relevant to the Juvenile Rehabilitation Programme they completed.
