ICOST starts Facilitator Training Course

Maldives Correctional Service has started a Facilitator Training Course conducted by Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) today at Maafushi Prison.

The 10-day training programme trains facilitators who would in turn conduct Certificate level 1 and 2 courses for prison officers. Six officers from Maafushi Prison, one officer from Male’ Prison, two officers from Head Office, one officer from Asseyri Prison and an officer from Emergency Support Group adding up to a total of 11 officers are participating in the programme.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the training, ICOST’s Executive Director Chief Prisons Officer Ahmed Riza stated that with the guidance from ICOST, all participants of the Facilitator Training Course should endeavour to train other prison officers to the best of their ability.

The training is being conducted by experienced facilitators of ICOST and includes seven modules such as how to create PowerPoint presentations, how to proceed with the class and preparing lesson plans. Foot drill classes are also included in the training.
