Maldives Correctional Service in association with Quran and Sunnah has started two Quran courses for inmates at Maafushi Prison.
32 inmates have participated in the Qari course Level 1 which goes on for two months. This is the fifth batch of the course and Maldives Correctional Service has informed that inmates who pass Level 1 successfully stand the chance of joining Qari Course Level 2. A total of 34 inmates are participating in the Basic Quran Course and this course prepares participants to move on to Qari Courses.
In addition to these courses, Maldives Correctional Service is conducting several courses such as three Qari level courses, Hifz classes, Islam classes, agriculture course, sewing classes and computer classes.
Maldives Correctional Service continues to broaden its efforts to rehabilitate inmates for successful reintegration into society.
