Maldives Correctional Service has concluded the Facilitator Training Course conducted by Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) at Maafushi Prison.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Maafushi Prison’s lecture hall, ICOST’s Executive Director Chief Prisons Officer Ahmed Riza stated that participants of the Facilitator Training Course were all officers with diploma-level and encouraged officers to work to achieve a higher level of education.
Chief Prisons Officer Ahmed Riza also said that all officers should work for the betterment of Maldives Correctional Service and it is the duty of all officers to uphold the reputation of MCS. He further urged all officers who completed the Course to be model officers for all.
Facilitator Training Course is a 10-day programme which trains facilitators to conduct Certificate 1 and Certificate 2 courses for prison officers. Six officers from Maafushi Prison, one officer from Male’ Prison, two officers from Head Office, one officer from Asseyri Prison and an officer from Emergency Support Group adding up to a total of 11 officers participated in the programme.
Seven modules were taught in this course, including how to create PowerPoint presentations, how to proceed with the class and preparing lesson plans. Foot drill classes were also included in the training.
