Home Minister visits Maafushi Prison

Minister of Home Affairs Honourable Azleen Ahmed has yesterday visited Maafushi Prison.

During his visit, the Minister visited some units at the Prison and also responded to some queries of inmates housed within these units. Addressing the inmates, he said that the His Excellency President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom desires to pardon inmates that are guilty of small crimes and therefore work is underway to implement it.

He then viewed the farming area and the vocational area as well as viewing the progress of the boundary of the Prison.

Minister Azleen also met with the Senior Management Team of Maafushi Prison and stated politics of operating the prison as well as imparted valuable instructions and advice.

The trip was joined by Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Shihan, Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal and executive committee members of Maldives Correctional Service.
