Three batches of Custodial Supervision Course begin at Male’ Prison

Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has yesterday begun 6th, 7th and 8th batches of Custodial Supervision Course at Male’ Prison to develop and improve officers working at its prisons.

The four-week Course is targeted for prison officers to ranks below the corporal rank and is conducted by Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) and will be taught by facilitators from ICOST.

The Course modules include the ideal way of operating minimum and medium security units, how to maintain security system, the benefits entitled to the inmates and the procedures of providing these benefits as well as the rights of the inmates as mandated by the law. In addition, the authority given to the officers and how to use the authority is also clarified during the Course.

ICOST continues to conduct a variety of additional courses for prison officers.
