Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal has today met PACOM Augmentation Team of the Embassy of the United States of America. The meeting was held at the Head Office Maldives Correctional Service (MCS).
The meeting was held to discuss about further strengthening the vocational programmes conducted for inmates by Maldives Correctional and training staff for the requirements.
US Embassy was represented by the Director, Information Support Team Mr Seon Lee, Director of Civil Military Support Element Mr Yeong Lee, Civil Affairs Planner Mr Daniel Burge, Deputy Director, Information Support Team Mr Edward Durfor and Ms Sucheta Sharma from the Embassy. In addition to the Deputy Commissioner, the meeting was also joined by Deputy Superintendent of Prisons Ibrahim Nashid.
Maldives Correctional Service continues to conduct several rehabilitative programmes for offenders serving sentences at Maldivian prisons to prepare them for reintegration to the community following their release.
