MCS officer threatened at knife-point while motor cycle snatched ‎

An officer of Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) was this morning threatened at knife-point by two ‎persons on a motor cycle. The culprits had also snatched the officer’s motor ‎cycle following the attack. The incident occurred this morning around 7:10 am near Thaajuddeen School.‎

It is noted that recently cases of threats against prison officers has been increasing. Last week, ‎two persons on a motor cycle had hit a prison officer on the head with a pavement ‎block.‎

Maldives Police Service is currently investigating the incident.‎

MCS greatly condemns such attacks and threats aimed at prison officers and staff. MCS officers and staff will continue to perform their ‎legal duties without hesitation regardless of any threat or violence.‎
