An officer of Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) was this morning threatened at knife-point by two persons on a motor cycle. The culprits had also snatched the officer’s motor cycle following the attack. The incident occurred this morning around 7:10 am near Thaajuddeen School.
It is noted that recently cases of threats against prison officers has been increasing. Last week, two persons on a motor cycle had hit a prison officer on the head with a pavement block.
Maldives Police Service is currently investigating the incident.
MCS greatly condemns such attacks and threats aimed at prison officers and staff. MCS officers and staff will continue to perform their legal duties without hesitation regardless of any threat or violence.
