Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham has today inaugurated the newly-built accommodation block ofEmergency Support Group (ESG) at Maafushi Prison.
Following the inauguration, the Commissioner, also the Chief Guest of the ceremony; had viewed the interior of the accommodation block.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Commanding Officer of ESG, Chief Prisons Officer Abdul Ghanee said that the new accommodation block will resolve the current accommodation issue facing the ESG officers. He also said that 99 per cent of the accommodation block was built by the hard work of ESG officers and the motivation and enthusiasm seen during the project is a clear indication of the motivation and enthusiasm that ESG have for all duties. He further said that ESG officers are always a good example for prisons officers.
Certificates were also awarded at the ceremony by Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham to all officers who actively participated or were otherwise involved in the project. In addition, certificates were given to all officers who were wounded through various altercations at prisons during the past eight years and to the ESG officers in appreciation of the good name they brought to ESG.
ESG’s Commanding Officer also noted and thanked ESG officers over the past eight years for their invaluable service.
The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal, senior officials of Head Office and prisons as well as several officers from Maafushi Prison and ESG.
