The Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham has stated that the issue of accommodation is one of the biggest issues facing officers working at the prisons.
The Commissioner made the comment while speaking at the ceremony held yesterday to inaugurate the new accommodation block of Emergency Support Group (ESG) at Maafushi Prison.
The Commissioner further said that work is in progress to resolve the issues within a short period and that care is being taken to build barracks in a modern fashion.
The new ESG accommodation block can house 58 officers and was constructed by the ESG officers under the direction of ESG’s Commanding Officer.
