Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) of Maldives Correctional Service has granted licence to officers who successfully passed the Physical Test Assessors training programme at a ceremony held last night at Maafushi Prison.
The licences were handed over by Chief Guest of the ceremony, Commanding Officer of ICOST Chief Prisons Officer Abdul Ghanee.
The licence is granted to specifically-trained officers who would assess the mandatory physical tests for officers held every six months.
A total of 43 officers were granted the licence, including eight officers from Maafushi Prison, eight officers from Male’ Prison, six officers from Emergency Support Group (ESG), five officers from Asseyri Prison, 19 officers from ICOST and one officer from Hulhumale’ Detention Centre.
The ceremony was attended by all facilitators of ICOST.
Following the conclusion of the ceremony, the officers received the licence were briefed on the procedures and responsibilities of the Physical Test Assessors. The officers also signed the document stating the procedures and responsibilities.
